CALI, COLOMBIA

Cali, capital of the department of Valle del Cauca, is internationally recognized as the World Capital of Salsa and one of the leading cultural centers of southwestern Colombia. It is a city that brings together tradition, diversity, and innovation. Located in southwestern Colombia, between the Andes mountain range and the Pacific region, it is a meeting point for multiple Indigenous, Afro-descendant, rural, and urban heritages that make this territory a privileged setting for intercultural dialogue and creation.

As one of the country’s leading cultural and academic centers, Cali offers solid infrastructure for international events, a wide range of hotels, excellent transportation services, and renowned culinary richness. Its vibrant artistic life, expressed through museums, theaters, galleries, festivals, and heritage sites, together with its proximity to some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, makes the city an exceptional place to reflect on the relationships between territory, culture, and meaning-making processes.

"Semiotic Territories: Ways of Knowing and Paths in Creation" expresses the spirit guiding this edition of the Congress and finds in Cali a privileged setting for its realization. The convergence of cultures, landscapes, memories, and creative practices that characterize the city makes this territory an ideal space for researchers, artists, creators, and students from around the world to meet. From Latin America, Cali will welcome you to share an academic and cultural experience that promotes reflection, cooperation, and innovation around the contemporary challenges of semiotics.

But no territory can be fully understood through words alone. Cali and Valle del Cauca must be experienced, explored, and interpreted. We invite you to discover, in the following audiovisual journey, the cultural, natural, and human richness that will make this Congress a unique experience.
